- Progesterone helps in preparing body for conception & pregnancy.
- During implantation and gestation, progesterone appears to decrease the maternal immune response to allow the acceptance of pregnancy.
- Progesterone increases core temperature (thermogenic function) during ovulation.
Indication
- Premenstrual syndrome
- Maintenance of pregnancy incase of threatened or habitual abortion.
- Sterility due to luteal deficiency
- Used for luteal support in assisted reproductive technology.
- To reduce risk of endometrial hyperplasia in menopause
